Just A Quick Post

I thought I'd post to let you know that Mom's been under the weather and is having breathing problems (She has a doctor appointment tomorrow) so Rocky and I haven't had any new adventures to write about.

But.....a funny thing did happen last night that Mom calls a freak accident. We were all sound asleep at about 2 AM. Next thing I know I wake up to Mom screaming and bleeding. From what we could deduce, one of the cats fell off the headboard and landed on Mom's head. Mom had fallen asleep with her glasses on so we don't know if when the cat hit her head if her glasses cut her or if the cat scratched her trying to break his fall. Well, she has a cut across her eyebrow, one on her eyelid and one below her eye. It's starting to turn pretty colors now!!

Mom is Sad Today

Mom, Rocky & I just finished watching the service for Senator Ted Kennedy. My Mom's eyes have been watering for two days. It was a very moving service and when they sang "When Irish Eyes are Smiling" she lost it.

Her family are Boston Irish and she is the only one in her family to leave Boston. She grew up in the Kennedy Era. My Grandpa was a union official and was involved with politicians. He worked with Senator Kennedy on a couple of occasions.

Mom remembers Grandpa saying that Ted Kennedy would always ask "What can I do for you?". He always said "nothing", except one time he asked the Senator to ask his brother, the President, to send my Auntie Trisha an autographed photo. Sure enough a few days later a package came from the Senator's office with a autographed photo that said "To Pat...very best wishes, Mr. President."

Nearly 50 years later that photo still hangs in Auntie Trisha's house.

Here is a picture of Senator Kennedy taken in the early 1960's. My Grandpa is in the back to the Senator's left.

Alpaca Farm

On Tuesday my Mom and some friends visited an alpaca farm. She brought home some great smells. I wish Rocky and I could have gone and played with those alpacas.

Oops I Ate It

Siku Marie tagged me for the Oops I Ate It Award, and I'm supposed to blog about a time when I helped myself to some food that I shouldn't have. The only food I ever "steal" is when Mom is eating and misses her mouth! Mom sits in her recliner to eat and I climb up on the back of the chair and lay in wait. If I see something fall.....it's mine......all mine. I am so quick I don't know if Mom even notices!!

Afghan Hound Club Specialty

As some of you know, my Mom and Dad used to show Afghan Hounds. Well, even though they don't do that anymore they are still involved with the local Afghan Hound Club. Heat Wave

We are in the middle of a heat wave. You know Seattle's reputation of being cold and rainy. Well, today was 110 degrees at our house outside and 96 degrees inside. That is the hottest recorded temperature here EVER!!! All together we are supposed to have at least a full week of 90 degrees or more. Very few people here have AC and you couldn't find one in this city if you tried.

We did get to run through the sprinkler. It was so cool and refreshing. Rocky is sleeping on the flagstone hearth since the stones are cooler than the carpet. I sleep where ever the fan is blowing. Mom is not doing very good. The air quality is bad and she has had breathing problems since she had a pulmonary embolism last year. We have no pictures because all they would be is us laying around like a wet dish rag.

Gidget, the famous Taco Bell dog has crossed the rainbow bridge at the age of 15. She did more to popularize the Chihuahua breed and small dogs than any before her. We will miss you Gidget!!

Another modeling job

As some of you know, I am a world famous model. So, today I had a job for my Mom's company To Be Ewe. They had made a prototype of a new dog toy. Here is a picture of me waiting for the photo shoot to start.

Photo shoots are 90% waiting and 10% work. I brought my business manager Rocky to make sure everything went smoothly.

The product is a dog toy shaped like a coffee cup.

We got the money shot and then they tried to take the toy away from me. I really liked this toy so I put my foot down and said I wanted to keep it.

After that, and a bit of wheeling and dealing by my manager, I got to take the prototype home and now it's all mine!!

Back in Seattle

After taking the Disney jet back from Scooby's wedding, my Mom and Dad took Rocky and I for a drive to Camano Island. It's about a 40 mile drive from our Kirkland villa.

Our beaches are pretty rocky and covered with logs that wash down from the mountains. We were at a State Park and not allowed to run on the beach like some of you can do.

We sat down at a picnic table and looked out at the sound. Yup, this is not an ocean. It is Puget Sound. Mom said lots of people (and dogs) don't know that Seattle isn't on the ocean. Here I am looking out at the view.

Mom.....why did you take that picture of me with my tongue out?Rocky enjoyed the view too!!Dad took Rocky down by the water and walked down the beach. I stayed with Mom since she doesn't walk very well.

I can't see Dad & Rocky. I'm getting worried!!

Oh....here they come. Whew!!Don't worry Diego...I kept an eye on Dad just like you kept an eye on Mom. Mom and Dad said we are good dogs!!

Who the heck is Perez Hilton? I think he makes a living saying bad things about people. Well, he has gone too far now. I heard he is saying bad things about my pal Fergie. Some of you might remember I met her at the American Idol finals.

He calls his website "Hollywoods Most Hated Website". That Perez is evil and is calling Fergie's friend Wii.I.am bad names for defending her. Well, I am defending her too! I do not use bad words like Perez does. I hope all my Hollywood pals stand up for Fergie and kicks Perez to the curb!!

Groundbreaking and Another Award

Recently Mom took me to a groundbreaking at her church. I asked her how someone can break ground. She said that sometimes when humans build a new building they have a show where they shovel dirt before they start building. I told her that was silly and that Rocky and I can go dig a hole there if she wanted us to. She said no. So we went to the show at the place where the new building will be.

Busy Few Days

Well, it's been a busy few days here at Casa Diego. First, I flew down to the Malibu cottage to spend a night in LA at the American Idol finale. I'm a big Adam Lambert fan so I was disappointed he didn't win. It was a fun night though. Here is a picture of me arriving at the red carpet.....

Then, after a long night I had to fly off to Cannes, France to walk the red carpet with my pal Brad and his lady Angelina.

Well, I'm back home now and Mom says I better get back to being just Diego Dog. She thinks being a celebrity is going to my head.

I got a package in the mail today. It was my prize for third place in GSD Adventures photo contest. Thank you Pruett & Daphne!!

Dad helped me open the box and there was a new toy in it for me. It's a real cute dog stuffie with a ball in his mouth. I named him P.D. after Pruett and Daphne.

A Backyard Kind of Day

Today Rocky & I thought we were going to be alone all day. Mom left early for a doctor's appointment but she was soon back and we were happy to see her. She even came out in the back yard with us. She doesn't usually come down to the yard much because the stairs are too hard on her. We had fun digging holes and running around while Mom took pictures. Hope you like them!!

After the Interview

After a wonderful interview with Bark Kent yesterday, the paparazzi kept hounding me for photos. So, I decided to have my pilot get my plane ready and take me to LA.

One of the best things about living on a lake is having a float plane ready at any moment. Here is a photo of me and my pilot shortly after take-off. You can see Lake Washington below. This photo was taken by the co-pilot of an F-16 shortly after taking photos of Airforce One.

I phoned my mentor George and invited him and a friend for lunch.

The conversation centered on my interview with Bark. Both George and Brad said they are still waiting for her to interview them. I told them Bark was very busy interviewing the Movers and Shakers that are Dogs That Blog and they may have to wait a long time.

She's Beautiful Inside & Out

Yesterday Mom came home and she had a box in her hands. She said "It's addressed to Diego Chace". I was so excited. I never got a box addressed to me before. I tried to open it but the box was too big for me to bite open. So, my Dad helped me open it. He read the card to me and said "It's from Mason!" I couldn't wait to see what was in the box.

The first thing I saw was a big orange google-eyed monster.

When I run with it it's arms go wild!!! I was having so much fun playing with my new toy. Then I heard Rocky say "There's something else in this box".

I put my toy down and before I knew it......out of the corner of my eye I spotted Snickers (the furry thing) ready to pounce on my new toy.

When my toy was safe I asked Dad to help me open the other package that was in the box.

OMG.....they're treats. I love treats. Mom said they were B-b-q'd squirrels. "Mom, I never caught a squirrel so I don't know what they taste like". "Oh Diego, they aren't real squirrels. They are home made treats shaped like squirrels."

Rocky and I sure think they smell good.

And they taste even better!!

A big thank you to Mason Dixie for a great birthday present! Mason, you really are as beautiful inside as you are outside!!!!

I can't believe all the birthday wishes I got. That Mason is quite a gal. Thank you so much Mason You made sure I had the BEST birthday ever. You also have great friends who took time to send greetings!

Mom did celebrate my birthday after she got home from the hospital. She said I should let you all know that she is not bad sick and the doctor is giving her lots of tests. Anyway, she gave me STEAK with my dinner and she also stopped at Petco on her way home and got me this cute teddy bear.

I had fun making it squeak! I like things that squeak!

Mom also got me some snausages! YUM!!!

Mom said I'm a good dog because I shared my snausages with my brother Rocky.

My Birthday

I am so sad today. Yesterday was my birthday and no one remembered until today. It's not like I'm human and get about 80 birthdays you know. My Mom said she feels bad that she forgot. I probably shoud forgive her because she hasn't been feeling well. I know she'll make it up to me. Anyway, I am now 4 years old and I don't feel a day over 2.

Happy Easter everyone!! Here is a cartoon for you all!!

Mom had some Easter candy called Peeps. She let Rocky and I taste them. I thought it was gonna taste like chicken but no.......it was this lousy marshmallow stuff. I just turned my nose up at it. Rocky actually put it in his mouth and then spit it out. Mom seems to like Peeps but when you are expecting chicken and get marshmallow......that's just plain wrong!!

Hi everyone.....

This is Rocky, Diego's brother.

I'm sorry to report that this is the last post for Diego Dog. Diego has run away to join the circus. He is plannng to meet a clown and follow in the footsteps of the famous Knucklehead.

So, starting today, I will be taking over this blog and it will be known as "Rocky Rocks". As you can see from this picture I can sit in a pot of flowers just as well as Diego can!!

Leavenworth, Washington

While I was helping Mom pick out the photo for "My Favorite Agility Pix" we came across some pictures she took when we went for a drive to Leavenworth. Leavenworth is a Bavarian style tourist town up in the Cascade Mountains. It is about 2 hours from Seattle. It is really beautiful there.

Well, as we were walking through the town they had wooden wine barrels planted with flowers. Mom said she had to shoot a picture of me surrounded by all the flowers. So she sends Dad and Rocky to be the lookouts and to make sure no one sees us. Then she picks me up and she plops me down right in the middle of the flowers. I was so scared we were gonna get caught and get in trouble. I couldn't even look at her.........

She begged me to please look at her, so I figured I'd give her one try to get the shot and that was it. I planned to get the heck out of there. If she got caught I was gonna pretend I didn't know her. I wasn't going to jail. I don't look good in stripes.

So, here is the photograph. I have to admit it came out great. Then again, with me for a model how can she go wrong?

NOTE: No animals or flowers were injured in the making of the above photo!!!!

It's Not Fair

Something has been bothering me for a long time. Mom and Dad give us cheese as a treat sometimes. Not an exotic kind of cheese but plain, American deli cheese. The problem is....they always refer to it as "Rocky Cheese". Now I know Rocky lived here long before I did but you'd think after nearly four years they'd name a treat after me. But no....

Well, I think Mom has ESP because the other day she gave us a little piece of bologna instead of cheese. She started calling it "Diego Bologna". I was so happy!! I heard her tell Dad that she is calling the bologna "Diego Bologna". She must have though I ate a lot of it too because I also heard her tell him I was "full of it".

I was happy to see that my breed was #8 and the only small dog on the list. The description it gave was right on. Sounded just like me. Here's what it said.....

Trip to the Park

Mom and Dad took us to the park one day last week. There had been temperatures in the 60's for a couple of days and we had spring fever and really wanted to go. So they packed us up, put us in the car and off we went. First stop was at the DMV. Mom had to renew her licence. We waited in the car with Dad. When Mom came out she said she is never going to write a check for the next five years because she is not showing anyone her licence picture. She said she sure hopes she never gets stopped for speeding.

We then stopped at the Post Office. Then to the park. Finally!!

We got to the park and Dad got Mom's electric scooter out. Mom can't walk very far so she rides the scooter and we ride with her. I ride in the basket and Rocky rides on the floor board.

We went down the road at the park and out on the boardwalk that goes to the lake. Oh, I forgot to mention.....it was freezing out!! We sure picked the wrong day to go to the park. Hardly anyone was there. We met a nice lady and her dog Odie.

She told us that the day before we were there she saw lots of wild birds. Lots of swans and ducks and geese. We saw a couple of ducks but that was it. BORING!!

I was so cold I was shivering. Mom finally wrapped me in a sweater she had. We hurried back to the car and left.

After we got home I had to crawl under the covers with Mom to get warm. I haven't thawed out yet. I can't wait for warm weather!!

She's No Fun

Yesterday, Rocky and I were so excited to run in the back yard. There are lots of wicked awesome places to explore out there. There is a holly tree that has branches that go all the way down to the ground. Rocky and I like to go under there and see if there's anything good there. It smells like cats and squirrels have been under there.

The other day we noticed a hole getting bigger at the back of the fence. We can look right into the next yard. Rocky keeps scratching at it to see if he can fit through it. I keep telling him it's not even big enough for me to fit through with my svelte, sexy bod. So, he'd never get through it. He's twice my size. Another place Rocky likes to go is under the old dog run that my afghan hound brothers and sisters used before they went to the rainbow bridge.

Mom doesn't like when we go to these places. She likes to be able to look out and see us.

So, look what happened when we got out there.......

She had Dad cover up the hole in the fence with a big square rock. Dad also blocked the entrance under the dog run. Rocky couldn't get under there.

It's just not fair.

My Favorite Toy

My favorite toy is my squeaky. It is just a round piece of cloth on one side and a piece of lambs fur on the other side. Inside is a little squeaker. And does it squeak LOUD!!! Mom gets me these toys at the dog show from her friend Claudia.

When she first got me my squeaky I used to play with it and squeak it sometimes. Mom would think I was entertaining myself so she would pick up the phone and call Nancy. They would start yakking and she would ignore me so I would climb in her lap and I'd squeak my toy really loud. Nancy would say "Geez, what is that noise"? Mom told her it was me with my squeaky.
As soon as she hung up the phone I'd stop squeaking my toy.

After doing this to her a few times Mom started to catch on. So did Nancy. So now Mom doesn't give me my squeaky until after her phone calls.

When Nancy got her new puppy (cousin Winston) the first thing Mom did was send him some squeakers. I wonder why Mom always smiles when she thinks about that?

It snowed again today. About 3 inches. Dad said we had more snow this winter than any other winter he'd ever seen at our house. He's lived here since he was 12 years old (in human years) and now he's really old.

Catnip

Mom spent the day Monday making something called Catnip Pillows. She said they are for those furry things to play with. She gave one to the ones who live here and they were rolling around with it and acting goofy. Mom made lots of them to sell at her booth when the Issaquah Farmers Market opens. Joy, Joy....we get left alone every Saturday when she goes there.

Anyway, Mom needed my help guarding these things from Snickers who kept trying to steal them. Here is a picture of me doing my "guard duty".......

That's Snickers on the left and the catnip pillows in the basket. Wait a minute.....what was Mom thinking putting me between the cat and the catnip??????

My Mom went to the fabric store the other day. So, today I found the bag with the sewing patterns that she bought. This is one of the ones she bought.......

Aren't these dog beds cute? And there is even a ramp to help older dogs to climb up on the bed. I hope Mom makes something from this pattern for me. And did you notice the model they used for these pictures?? Va-va-va-voom!!!

While Mom was looking at patterns on her computer, I was peeking over her shoulder and was horrified by what I saw. Look at these ..........

I can sense the pain in those dogs eyes. Not one of them is smiling. They are so humiliated. If Mom even tried to put one of these on my head she'd think she owned a pitbull instead of a sweet, calm papillon. And then there is this........

What were these guys thinking??? Who are they supposed to be, Little Lord Fauntleroy?? They will never again be able to show their faces at the dog park.

And a baby bunting?? You'd never catch me in one of those. And wearing a creepy matching hat too!! What is this world coming to?

Our Cousins

Rocky and I have two cousins.

Rudy lives with Christine, Mike, Katie & Sydney. She is a wire hair Jack Russell. She looks different from our friend Lady who is smooth coated. Mom's friends told her that Jack Russells were very hyper dogs but both Rudy and Lady are very sweet girls.

Winston is a Yorkie. Winston lives with Nancy, Joe & Madison. He is very cute but Mom says he has been known to steal from ladies purses. He also likes to chew and keeps his family on their toes.

I've never met my cousins but I told Mom that if she is ever mean to me I'm gonna run away and stay with them. How far away is Massachusetts anyway??

Lady

Rocky and I are confirmed bachelors. Although there is a good looking girl who lives across the street from us that I think would be perfect for Rocky. Her name is Lady. She is a really cute Jack Russell Terrier. She comes from a good family.....Mom, Dad, one Son and two daughters. They also have one of those furry things running around. We can sit on the top step in our house and see Lady playing with her family. They like to take lady camping. Although I did hear them tell my Mom that last summer when they went camping they forgot Lady at the campground and got all the way to the ferry before they realised she was missing and had to go back and get her.

Strange Sounds in the Night

I don't know what it was but it sure as heck scared me....

Last night we all settled down for a nap. Rocky was laying at the bottom of the bed between Mom's feet. I was laying between Mom and Dad. Dad fell asleep so I climb up on his chest to get more comfy. I knew he couldn't yell at me to get off because he was out like a light. After circling a couple of times I settled down for a nice snooze.

All of a sudden.... this huge snort came out of Dad with a gust like a hurricane. I was lucky I wasn't blown to Timbuktu.

After that I went and curled up next to Rocky....better to be safe than comfy.

Left Home Again....jigity jig

Yup. She went to an agility trial yesterday. Yup. She left us home again.

She knows I'd like to try to do agility but she said she can't run with me because she has a bad knee. It's too bad because it looks like fun. I think I could give my friend Tigger (see his picture below) a run for his money. Tigger is 3 time AKC Invitational Agility Champion. You may have seen him on TV. Rocky said he could care less about agility. He's glad he stayed home where it was warm.

Anyway, Mom goes off with her friends Sandy & Terri. Rocky & I weren't home alone long. Dad soon got home from work. A few hours later Mom got home. I was happy to see her but then......I saw her sweatshirt. It was covered with white papillon hair. Not mine, not Rocky's. GADS.....she was holding another dog. After a few minutes of sniffing I realize I know who's been resting in my Mom's arms.....BLING!! So, Tigger's little brother knows a papillon pushover when he sees one. Grrrrrrrr.

Strange Furry Creatures

I have a great little family. Mom, Dad & Rocky. The only thing is there are these five strange furry creatures that run around here like they own the place. Mom said they are called Cats. She said they aren't family they just live here. She said Dad & her adopted them.....whatever that means.

I don't like them. They sneak up and eat out of Rocky and my food bowls. I run and bark at them but they just look at me with evil eyes. Sometimes they take a swipe at me and that hurts.

They sit by the deck door and watch the birds eat from Mom's bird feeders. I bet if they could get out there they'd eat the bird's food too. They do nothing but eat and sleep. Oh yeah and sometimes they make awful noises that Mom says are because of something called fur balls. GROSS!! They are totally gross animals. Nothing like a dog.

Dad has one he calls Snickers. Mom & Dad say Snickers thinks he's a dog. HE WISHES!!!! I get so mad when Dad picks him up and holds him like he's a baby. I try to jump up on Dad's lap so he will put Snickers down. He does but then he picks me up and wants me to give him a kiss. So, I just lick his ear and he's lucky I do that because......I'M NOT A KISSY DOG.

Rocky & I really want to go out. We haven't been out since Dad left for work. Get up Mom and let us out. Yes, yes she's getting up. Out we go!! Down the steps....ohhhh I hate stepping on wet ground. We live in Washington and I heard Mom say it rains from October until March. I like it when the rain turns white and fluffy but I still don't really like walking in it. My business is done so I want to go in NOW. Thank goodness Mom is waiting at the door. Dad usually goes away and doesn't come back until Rocky barks his head off. After I go in Mom acts all happy and starts playing with me and calling me "Silly Dog". I play along with her and run into the living room and back to the kitchen. She seems to really like playing this game so I kinda play along. Sometimes she even gives me a treat. She picks me up and gives me kisses. I DON'T LIKE KISSES!!

Rocky is still out. He likes to wander around the yard and checks out EVERYTHING. Mom is getting tired of waiting for him so she yells "Rocky. Come Rocky". Sometimes he comes right away but sometimes he totally ignores her. He comes in and Mom gives him a treat too.
